5 Severna Park Teachers Among Top in County

There will be an Excellence in Education banquet in April honoring the educators from public and private schools.

Five Severna Park teachers are among the 50 from public and private schools who will be honored in April at the 26th Annual Excellence in Education banquet in Linthicum, hosted by the Anne Arundel County Public Schools (AACPS) system and the Anne Arundel County Chamber of Commerce, according to a news announcement.

Also honored will be local businesses that have forged critical partnerships with schools across the county, directly benefitting AACPS’ 76,300 students. The evening will culminate with the announcements of the 2012 Anne Arundel County Public and Private School Teachers of the Year. The Public School Teacher of the Year will represent the county in the Maryland State Teacher of the Year competition, according to the AACPS announcement.

The following Severna Park teachers were nominated by their schools and school communities:

  • Amanda Finnis,
  • Sabra Hill,
  • Laurie Marlow,
  • Sheri Rinehuls,
  • Julie Weber,

Semifinalists from the field of 47 public school nominees will be announced later this month. From that group, five finalists will be chosen. Business partnership nominations will be accepted until February 10. Forms can be found at www.aacps.org.

Tickets for the event are $40 each. For sponsorship information and ticket orders, visit www.aaaccc.org. For other information, please call 410-266-3960.
