Falcon Roundup: Playoff Edition

Here’s a recap on what’s going on with Severna Park High School sports teams involved in postseason play.

Between Hurricane Sandy and the upcoming election, news of local athletics has gotten a little lost. So for those of you wondering how the Falcons are doing, here’s a recap on where some teams stand in postseason play.

After receiving a No. 2 seed, the Falcon volleyball team earned a first-round bye in the MPSSAA playoffs. Severna Park will host Old Mill on Monday night at 6 p.m. The Falcons have just two losses on the season, but both of them came to Arundel.

Boys Soccer

The Falcons finished the regular season with an undefeated record only to fall to North County in the County Championships. However, it seems the team was able to put that loss behind it. The Falcons (16-1) will host Old Mill (7-8-2) in the Region Final on Tuesday at 7 p.m.

Girls Soccer

After defeating Meade in the opening round 1-0, the Falcons fell to South River 3-0 to end the season.

Field Hockey

The defending 4A Field Hockey Champions went down Saturday in the region final. The Falcons fell to South River for the third time this season. It’s the first time the Falcons won’t be in the state final four since 2002, according to The Capital Gazette.
