Patch stopped by Severn School’s football practice and talked to senior defensive end David Watt about football, school and his plans for the future.
Severna Park Patch: What is your fondest Severn football memory?
David Watt: I have to say my favorite football memory was making the state championships last year. Although we didn’t win, it was the biggest deal in my football career and I was so pumped. We worked hard to achieve a winning season and we were ready to go.
Severna Park Patch: What is your favorite professional football team? Who is your favorite player and why?
Watt: I actually don’t watch professional sports. I don’t watch any of that. I just don’t like it. I like to play it, I just hate watching it.
Severna Park Patch: What else do you participate in at Severn besides football?
Watt: I am really involved in the art community. I love to paint. I would say that is my biggest thing outside of football.
Severna Park Patch: What’s your favorite class and teacher at Severn?
Watt: Biology with Dr. Martin—I was never a science guy before that. I hated the sciences, but now I am considering bio as a major in college. Dr. Martin really flipped my role around academically.
Severna Park Patch: What are your plans after high school?
Watt: Go to college. I want to go to the College of Charleston in South Carolina because that’s where my sister went. She sailed there.
