Severna Park High School Missing from State Budget

O'Malley's capital budget includes funding for 32 local projects in Anne Arundel.

Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley unveiled his capital budget for 2014-2015 this week, and it includes a slew of new construction projects in Anne Arundel County—but one is curiously absent.

A total of 13 school construction projects are funded in the budget, but missing from the list was the school system's requested $26 million funding for Severna Park High School.

Topping the list of capital projects are the Dorsey Run Correctional Facility, a 560-bed minimum security compound in Jessup, improvements at Meade High School in Odenton, and a replacement for the City of Annapolis' water treatment plant.

School officials said they still have a chance to request additional funding from the state next week, and barring that, can appeal to the Anne Arundel County Council.
