Jones Elementary School will get a visit from Gov. Martin O'Malley on Thursday afternoon.
O'Malley is set to visit the Severna Park school to celebrate Maryland’s public schools being certified Thursday as No. 1 in the nation for the fifth straight year by Education Week Magazine, according to a release from the Governor's Office.
O'Malley will be joined by House Speaker Michael Busch (D-Annapolis), members of the Maryland State Education Association, and other officials.
The visit comes just days after O'Malley announced plans to spend $336 million on school construction projects throughout the state. Patch reported that an Anne Arundel County Public Schools (AACPS) official expressed optimism about receiving necessary funding to finance local facility improvements.
