New Sidewalks on McKinsey Road by Dawsons

Stimulus money funded the latest project in the heart of Severna Park.

There's been plenty of road work in Severna Park this summer. Orange construction cones and signage along our local routes around town have become as commonplace as a stoplight.

The sewer line installation along , and a stormwater management project on  has kept these arteries busy with equipment, trucks and hard hats.

Most recently, federal stimulus money funded work that began about two weeks ago on the installation of three sections of sidewalks along McKinsey Road, heading towards corner, on the same side of the street.

According to Matt Diehl of the Anne Arundel County Department of Public Works, this latest sidewalk project is part of President Obama's stimulus package.

A contractor is working on the sidewalks, which are almost complete, while also repairing the curb and gutter due to drainage issues, said Diehl. Handicap ramps per the Americans with Disabilities Act requirements will also be installed.

Diehl said the contractor will return in a week or two to then mill and pave that section of McKinsey Road.
