Neuman Plans Run for County Executive in 2014

Neuman was appointed and sworn in Feb. 22 following predecessor John Leopold's resignation.

Anne Arundel County Executive Laura Neuman said this week she plans to run to keep her seat.

Neuman told The Capital Gazette editorial board Wednesday she will run in the 2014 election.

Neuman was appointed by the County Council in February to finish out the term of John Leopold, who resigned after he was convicted on two counts of criminal misconduct in office.

Neuman, an Annapolis Republican, formed a campaign committee earlier this year, but a formal announcement on her campaign will come later this year.

“My focus right now is on running the county,” she told the paper's editorial board.

Neuman has approximately a dozen fundraisers scheduled in the coming months, she told the paper.

What do you think about Neuman's plans to run in 2014? How is she doing so far? Tell us in the comments!
