Delegate Vitale Appointed to Governor’s Family Violence Council

The Severna Park native will work to determine how to best overcome domestic violence.

Delegate Cathy Vitale, a Severna Park native, has been appointed to the governor’s Family Violence Council.

As a member of the council she will work to serve Maryland families and determine how to best overcome domestic violence.

“I am pleased to be given this opportunity," said Vitale about the recent appointment in a release. "Domestic violence is a serious problem in Maryland.  Its effects on families and particularly children can have long lasting negative implications as they grow up and form their own families."

Delegate Vitale is one of four state legislators to serve on the council along with other cabinet officials and members of the public, according to a release. The council aims to study the horrific situations resulting from domestic violence and finds ways to resolve these issues to help make Maryland families safer.

“It is my hope that both my legislative and legal experience helps bring real change to current situations,"  said Vitale in the release.
