County Executive Neuman Talks Rain Tax on FOX

While being interviewed, Neuman attacked the so-called rain tax, set up to pay for restoration efforts in the Chesapeake Bay.

Anne Arundel's County Executive made national airwaves Monday night while on a Fox Business Network show, debunking the merits of the state's so-called rain tax.

Neuman was interviewed on The Willis Report Monday evening, and shared her stance against legislation mandated by the state to restore the Chesapeake Bay that has been commonly referred to as the rain tax.

Neuman has been outspoken on the measure since taking office. Just months into her seat, she made arrangements to veto legislation before the County Council, but local legislators were able to rally an override of her veto.

"I love the Chesapeake Bay and it is a national treasure, but we can't tax our way out of restoring it, much less put the burden of cleaning the Bay up on 10 jurisdictions in Maryland," Neuman said. "You can’t have a new tax every time you want to fix something."
