1. Local Artist Paints ‘Off the Wall’
Severna Park painter and artist Jodi Roberts makes a living painting murals and turning other people’s trash into works of art.

2. Severna Park Man Killed in Benfield Blvd. Crash
Tuesday’s accident on Benfield Boulevard claimed the life of a Severna Park man. Police said James Robert Parker, 56, of Severna Park was pronounced dead at the hospital shortly after the accident. There is no initial evidence that alcohol or excessive speed were contributing factors in this crash, police said.

3. Local Business Offers Free Women’s Self-Defense Class
First Class Martial Arts in Severna Park is offering a free women’s self-defense class that will teach women how to defend themselves in scary situations—and how to avoid those situations all together. The class will run from 7 to 9 p.m. on Oct. 12, and 10 a.m. to noon on Oct. 20, at First Class Martial Arts.

4. Fantastic Sams in Severna Park Closes
The Fantastic Sams hair salon in Severna Park closed its doors for business and signs on the door indicate the stylists have all moved to new locations.

5. Local Conquer Chiari Walk Raises $32K
A Severna Park Middle student, who suffers from Chiari, organized a walk on Sept. 22 that raised more then $32,000 for the Conquer Chiari Foundation.
