Police Release Photo of SUV Possibly Involved in Fatal Brooklyn Park Accident

More than two weeks after the accident, Anne Arundel County police officers continue to search for the woman driving the car that struck and killed Baltimore resident Alex Hernandez.

Anne Arundel County Police released pictures of the sport utility vehicle (SUV) they believe struck and killed a Baltimore man as he rode his bicycle July 14 in Brooklyn Park.

Police released the photo, obtained through video surveillance, of the car they believe may have been involved in the accident. The photo, which accompanies this story, shows the SUV driving into the parking lot at 5801 Ritchie Highway in Brooklyn Park.

The SUV is described as being very dark maroon in color with a body style similar to a Ford Escape or Jeep Liberty. The SUV is believed to have damage to the hood and passenger side headlamp, windshield and mirror. It was last seen heading east of Walton Avenue, police said.

Police released a of the car Tuesday. They describe the woman as being a 30-to 40-year-old black woman, standing 5-feet-6-inches or shorter, having short hair and a medium frame of about 135 to 150 pounds. She was seen wearing wearing pink medical scrubs the day of the accident, police said in a press release.

According to police Alex Canales Hernandez, 25, of Baltimore was attempting to cross Ritchie Highway on his bicycle at Bon Air Avenue the morning of July 14 when he was hit. He later died from his injuries.
