Police Enforcement of Underage Alcohol Sales in Severna Park

Two Severna Park liquor stores miss the mark by selling to underage customers, while five are compliant.

Anne Arundel County Police conducted alcohol enforcement across the county over the past three months. According to a release from police spokesman Justin Mulcahy, the purpose of the enforcement was to make sure that liquor store owners complied with underage drinking laws—especially during high school prom and graduation season.

Police used underage buyers at the stores to try to purchase alcohol.

During the checks, police found 23 liquor stores countywide that did not ask for identification. Of those, two were found non-compliant in Severna Park. In 2010, the last time an enforcement effort was carried out countywide, eight businesses were non-compliant.
