Police Charge Man in SP Home Burglary

The incident occurred in the 700 block of Cypress Road in Severna Park.

Police have charged a Severn Park man who they said ransacked and stole several items from a home on Cypress Road.

Matthew Koehn, 29, of the 700 block of Stinchcomb Road in Severna Park was charged with first- third- and fourth-degree burglary, felony theft, and misdemeanor destruction of property, according police spokesman Justin Mulcahy.

Mulcahy said police responded to a home in the 700 block of Cypress Road at 9:38 a.m. on Wednesday for a report of a burglary. A family member received information that the home of their deceased relative had been burglarized, the police spokesman said.

Officers found that the home had been ransacked and that numerous items were missing.

Further investigation led police to a home in the 700 block of Stinchcomb Road in Severna Park where Koehn was questioned, Mulcahy said. Police later arrested Koehn after officers observed some of the stolen items from the burglary in Koehn's home.

This is so sad. Robbers will get information of deaths from publications and then rob the houses they had resided in. In times of grief you have to have neighbors you can trust to watch over your house, especially during the time of the funeral. You can never be too safe.
