Police Charge Man in Home Burglary

The incident occurred in a Severna Park home on New Year's Day.

Anne Arundel County police arrested and charged a Severna Park man after they say he attempted to break into an area home on New Year’s Day.

According to online charging documents, Brent Gehring, 20, of the 400 block of Fairtree Drive, was charged with fourth-degree burglary and destruction of property.

Police spokesman Justin Mulcahy said police responded to a home in the 200 block of Berrywood Drive at 12:30 a.m. on Tuesday after a homeowner said he came home to find someone in the back of his house.

“He returned home and found an individual who may have been intoxicated in the rear of the house causing damage,” Mulcahy said.

Gehring was arrested and charged at the scene.

Mulcahy said it was not clear if Gehring actually made entry into the home.
