Among his activities on the first day on the job, new Anne Arundel County police Chief Kevin Davis started a Twitter feed.
Davis, a longtime Prince George's County police official appointed to the top post last week, said in a statement the account "is a great opportunity for me to show transparency."
“While there are many informational channels out there for the public to utilize, Twitter seems to be the medium of choice right now for members of the media and the public," he said.
His first tweet is a photo from an executive command staff briefing.
The department itself already maintains a Twitter feed.
