A Pikesville man authorities said wearing a shirt with a gold, embroidered badge on it who was caught up in an Anne Arundel County prostitution sting likely planned to rob the prostitute he agree to meet, police said.

During the second and third weeks of January, detectives from the Anne Arundel County Police Department planned a crackdown on prostitution activity in the Linthicum and Hanover Hotel Districts. Undercover detectives posed as escorts on websites commonly used for prostitution, obtaining solicitations of a sexual act for money from men responding to the ads.

Suspect Steven Gravley Jr., 27, was arrested after arriving at a hotel room to meet a person he thought was a prostitute. Gravley had concealed a BB gun in his waistband and wore a shirt with a gold badge on the front, the department said on it Facebook page. Police arrested Gravley and found he had no money with him, which led detectives to believe he came to the hotel room planning to rob the prostitute he agreed to meet.

Gravley was charged with attempted robbery, police impersonation, and prostitution.
