Fire Causes $300,000 Worth of Damage, Sends Homeowner to Hospital

A fire spokesman said it took about 30 firefighters to quench the flames Sunday night.

65-year-old woman reportedly suffered life-threatening injuries in Millersville Sunday night when a fire engulfed her home, causing more than $300,000 worth of damage.

According to Anne Arundel County Fire Department spokesman Capt. James Rostek, it took roughly 30 firefighters about 20 minutes to get the fire under control. Initially reported around 10:06 p.m. Sunday, the cause of the house fire is still under investigation, Rostek said.

Rostek said the fire in the 700 block of Mattawa Court near Indian Landing Road caused more than $300,000 worth of damage.

The woman was taken to the burn center at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center in Baltimore.
