Cops Use Stolen GPS to Track Suspected Thief's Target

Authorities are currently investigating additional reports of theft in the area that may be connected.

A stolen GPS with its home address in Severna Park still programmed in was used as evidence against a suspected thief, police said.

Johnathan Lee Brewster, 31, of Severn, was charged with multiple counts of theft under $1,000 and rogue and vagabond, according to a police report.

Anne Arundel County police were looking for a suspicious vehicle after a resident reported his vehicle had been ransacked. Police said they spotted Brewster's vehicle and a GPS unit, "in plain site" after a traffic stop.

The device was still programmed with the address of a home on Devonshire Court, in the same community of the man whose vehicle had been ransacked, police said.

Authorities are currently investigating additional reports of theft in the area that may be connected, according to the report.
