Cocaine, Cars and Gun Seized in Suspended License Arrest

Three people were arrested in Severn Thursday and charged with several drug and gun offenses after police said they found almost $10,000 worth of drugs and confiscated an Audi, a Mercedes Benz and a gun.

After checking the tag number on a 2001 Audi on Annapolis Road, police learned that the car’s owner, Lovester Johnson, had a suspended license. Cpl. Joshua Williams of the Western District followed the car to try and identify the driver as Johnson and said he saw him retrieve a bag from his trunk.

According to a police press release, another car pulled up next to the Audi and a woman then entered into Johnson’s vehicle.

Additional officers arrived to assist and upon seeing the police approach his car, Johnson began moving around inside the Audi, police said. He was then arrested for driving with a suspended license.

During the arrest, police said they saw drugs in plain sight on the floorboard of the Audi and conducted an additional search of the vehicle and said they found a large amount of illegal substances.

Police seized two vehicles, the Audi and a Mercedes Benz, $1,572 in cash and a .22 caliber pistol.

In addition, officers said they confiscated 58.3 grams of crack cocaine worth $6,413, 31.5 grams of powder cocaine worth $3,465, 5.22 grams of marijuana worth $52 with a plastic smoking device and plastic grinder.

Johnson, the woman and another man were charged with possession with intent to distribute and other drug possession charges. Johnson also was charged with possession of a firearm while drug trafficking.

The suspects were identified as:

• Mellissa Day, 40, of Severna Park
• Ricky Mason, 40, of Baltimore
