Bicyclist Suffers Serious Injuries After Crash

A man crashed his bike on the Baltimore and Annapolis Trail on Tuesday and severed his artery.

A man suffered serious injuries after he crashed his bike on the Baltimore and Annapolis Trail on Tuesday afternoon, according to the Anne Arundel County Fire Department.

Lt. Keith Hamilton said emergency crews were called to the trail, near the Park Rangers Office on Earleigh Heights Road, on Tuesday afternoon when a man crashed his bike.

Hamilton said a 39-year-old man fractured his femur.

“Fracturing the femur is a very serious injury because you can cut the artery in your leg, so he was rushed to the hospital immediately,” Hamilton said.

The man was taken to the Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore with serious and life-threatening injuries.

The Capital reported the man’s bike went through a fence, and the bike’s left handlebar went through the man’s thigh.
