Crews Battle 2-Alarm Fire at M&T Bank

Firefighters put out a two-alarm fire at the bank located at 576 Ritchie Highway next to Park Plaza.

Fire crews put out a two-alarm fire that broke out at the on Ritchie Highway Sunday night, an Anne Arundel County Fire Department spokesman said.

Division Chief Michael Cox said crews responded to the M&T Bank building in the 500 block of Ritchie Highway at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday for the report of a fire.

Crews found heavy smoke coming from the bank. Firefighters then forced entry into the building and began an interior attack to battle the blaze. Cox said that is when additional crews were requested.

More than 54 firefighters responded to the scene and Cox said it took 50 minutes to bring the fire under control. As of 7:43 p.m. crews were still at the scene, but the fire has been contained.

Cox said no one was injured, and that the amount damage to the bank is undetermined.
