Anne Arundel County Football Roundup: Week 7

The Arundel Wildcats are the only undefeated team left in the county. They take on Broadneck this week.

High school football teams in Anne Arundel County will begin their seventh week of play on Friday night. Patch has rounded up the records and schedules for each team and produced some power rankings. Arundel now stands alone at the top.

1. Arundel (6-0): The Wildcats took down rival and defending state champ Old Mill last Friday, 66-34. This week Arundel will host Broadneck (5-1). Quarterback Jack Gordon was 20-30-1, with five touchdowns against the Patriots. Broadneck gave up 21 points last week to an inferior Annapolis team—expect Arundel to come out on top in this matchup.

2. Old Mill (5-1): After falling to Arundel last week, the Patriots head to Annapolis, who is winless this season. Quarterback Brady Ludwig threw for two  touchdowns and 291 yards against the Wildcats. Old Mill should easily handle Annapolis.

3. Broadneck (5-1): The Bruins will travel to top-ranked Arundel Friday night. Broadneck's only loss of the season comes to Old Mill (5-1). Broadneck will need to stop Arundel's passing game if it wants to come away with a victory.

4. South River (4-2): The Seahwaks will host on Glen Burnie on Friday. South River defeated Severna Park last week in a dominating 40-21 performance. Running back Lavon Chaney had 196 yards on 20 carries in the win, which made him the fourth leading rusher in the state for the second week in a row, according to The Washington Post. The Seahawks should add another win to their resume this week.

5. Meade (4-2): The Mustangs will host Northeast (1-5) on Friday. Meade topped North County last week 52-12 and running back Kyle Evans recorded 171 yards on 18 carries in the victory, according to The Washington Post. Northeast will have a hard time stopping the Mustangs run game. Meade should get the win here.
