Severna Park Death Notices: July 4

Eleanor Karr, 87, a 30-year resident of Severna Park, passed peacefully on June 30, 2013 at the Fairfield Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Crownsville. She was a homemaker and had also enjoyed many years working with children at the Woods Memorial Child Development Center. Mrs. Karr was a parishioner of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Severna Park where she was formerly active in a weekly prayer group. (From Barranco and Sons)

Mary B. Scott, a 50-year resident of Severna Park, passed peacefully on June 30, 2013 at the Nursing Care Center of the Oak Crest Retirement Community in Parkville after a lengthy illness. Mary Lou married Donald M. Scott in 1953. Shortly thereafter, they moved to Severna Park and settled in the community of Ben Oaks. Here they spent many happy years sailing on the Severn and swimming in Scott's Pond, Donald's dream which many of the community residents helped him bring to life. (From Barranco and Sons)

Doris Violet Meusel, a resident of Arnold since 1956 died on June 30, 2013 at her home in Arnold. She was 85 years old. In April 1997, she returned to the work force as a part time receptionist with Barranco and Sons Funeral Home in Severna Park. Alfred “Bud” A. Reed, 85, a resident of Arnold, died on June 30, 2013 at Annapolitan Assisted Living in Annapolis. (From Barranco and Sons)

Karen Lee Layton, 67, a resident of Severna Park, died Saturday, June 29, 2013 at Mandrin Hospice House in Harwood, Maryland. She was an elementary school teacher for Prince George’s County and an assistant teacher at Chesapeake Academy in Anne Arundel County for many years. (From Barranco and Sons)
