Roses, Wine, Chocolate at Community Center

Back by popular demand, treat your Valentine to a gift bag while sending some love to the community center.

There's a fundraiser to warm your heart this Valentine's Day—one that will make gift-giving easy for everyone on your list. Once again, the  (SPCC) is selling Valentine's Day gift bags filled with all of the traditional favorites for your sweetheart and adorable gifts for the younger set.

Marion Wear, office manager at SPCC, is all about updating the Valentine gift selection each year.

“There are new little nuances that keep each year fresh, special or different,” Wear said.

This year, the special touch of having the thorns taken off the roses on the sweetheart package is new and the young adult gift of a bear hugging a cut crystal vase holding a rose is adorable.

“We make it very festive and special for the children too,” Wear said

Last year the center sold 80 gift bags, and Wear said the center hopes to sell at least 100 this year, "and more if we can," she said.

Wear is known as the "singing delivery lady" and in the past, has belted out a short Valentine's Day greeting upon arrival at the door when making deliveries. She and other SPCC staff and board members deliver the gifts each year to customers in local neighborhoods.
