Catching Up With 'Pippin' Star Emily Smith

The Severna Park High senior is playing Catherine in the Catonsville Youth Theatre's production of "Pippin Junior."

Patch stopped by Severna Park High School to talk with a few drama students participating in the Catonsville Youth Theatre’s production of "Pippin Junior."

Senior Emily Smith is playing Catherine, Pippin's love interest, in the production, which includes seven Severna Park High students.

Pasadena Patch: How long have you been participating in drama, and what are a few productions you have participated in?
Smith: Nine years. I have been in Phantom of the Opera, Footloose, Les Mis, Grease, and A Christmas Carol.

Pasadena Patch: What is your favorite part about being in Pippin Junior?
Smith: It’s a really unique show. The plot, the characters and the theme of the show is really different than any other show I have ever been in.

Pasadena Patch: What was one of your favorite roles you have played in a production?
Smith: Glinda in the Wizard of Oz. I just liked being a fairy.

Pasadena Patch: What else do you like to do besides drama?
Smith: Math—I like how it works. I also like to read. My favorite book is probably Inkheart.

Pasadena Patch: What is one of your favorite shows that you have seen?
Smith: Children of Eden. The cast was so talented and they were my age so it was really awesome to see that.
