Annapolis Arts, Crafts & Wine Festival Jun. 7-8, 2014

A variety of volunteers will be needed to help on each day of the Festival’s fifth year. Each volunteer will receive: an admission ticket to the event, a souvenir wine glass, and bottled water. The event is being held from 10 am–6 pm, Sat., June 7, and 10-5 pm, Sun. Jun.8, 2014, outdoors at the Annapolis Navy-Marine Memorial Stadium. There will be juried works of over 150 of the regions' best artists and craftsmen employing a variety of medium: painting, sculpture, ceramics, digital art, mixed media, printmaking, jewelry, fiber art, glass, wood, leather, metal and photography. Guests will sample wines from dozens of Maryland wineries under tented wine pavilions….and children are welcome, too, for KIDS'ART activities. The Arc Central Chesapeake Region

The Arc advocates for and supports County citizens with developmental disabilities. Volunteers are needed to serve on the board of directors, help with fund raising, assist in the office, and to help with special events. Volunteers, 16 years and older, are also needed as gardening assistants at the Arc’s sensory garden in Annapolis, including plant care, patio maintenance, planting trees/shrubs, etc. and to help with leaf and yard maintenance at 30 homes the Arc manages throughout the County. ·     7:30–11:30 am, Sat., Jun. 7, 2014, 5K & 10K Run for a Reason 2014:Volunteers are needed to help with set-up, check-in and registration, traffic, water table and finish line monitors, and more, to make this fundraising event a success. Kids ‘n’ Kaboodle Children’s Fair, June 7, 2014

The 13th annual free fair for all the children of Annapolis is being held from 12 Noon–4:00 pm, Sat., Jun. 7, 2014 at the Weems-Whalen Ball Field off Spa Road in Annapolis (Rain or Shine). The event is sponsored by the Chesapeake Children's Museum with many other agencies participating.Volunteers and donations make this a day of creative fun and joyous laughter, with no cost for anything; Arts and Crafts, Hands on Career Stations, Games and Prizes, Free Food and Drinks, Live Animals, a Book Giveaway, Live Entertainment, and much, much more are offered.  Volunteers are needed as pony walkers, hamburger grillers, career exhibitors, face painters, game and craft facilitators, greeters, grounds people, and more.  Please call Dr. Deborah Wood at Chesapeake Children’s Museum:  410-990-1993 or email:  debbie@theccm.org.

 

Opportunity Builders, Inc.

This nonprofit provides vocational training and employment services to adults with developmental disabilities. Volunteer Instructor Aides, minimum age 18, assist clients with staying on-task to meet production quotas and help them to learn appropriate work skills and techniques. Volunteers who can commit to coming to the Millersville facility, once a week for at least 3 months are preferred. Volunteers, individuals and groups, also conduct job interviews, teach computer classes, assist with special events, painting and maintenance projects, serve on an OBI committee and more. Seasons Hospice & Palliative Care

Seasons Hospice invites you to journey with individuals facing an end-of-life illness. Volunteers provide companionship and support for our hospice clients and their families. We also utilize special skill volunteers such as: pet therapy, music companion, spiritual volunteer, bereavement callers, and office support. Volunteers with expertise in medicine, engineering and technology are needed to develop unique solutions that assist people with disabilities manage their daily life. Volunteers age 21 and up who are active or retired medical/rehabilitation professionals or those with engineering backgrounds are needed to assess disabilities and to design and build one-of-a-kind devices for clients with disabilities. Also needed are volunteers, age 16 and up, in Baltimore to work weekdays in the computer loan center testing, repairing, and refurbishing donated computer equipment. It features computer-based activities that teach creativity, independent thinking, presentation skills, and literacy in a friendly and structured environment Campers will also be able to explore their creativity through painting, drawing, and other arts and crafts activities. In addition, each day children have an opportunity to work at their own individual computer station programmed and configured for their specific needs, document the days’ activities using digital cameras, camcorders, and take part in various field trips.
