Volunteer Opportunities: 'Blanketeers' Needed, Park Cleanup

Here's a list of ways to volunteer in Severna Park and help in the community.

Each week, the Volunteer Center For Anne Arundel County announces current opportunities available to help others.

The mission of Project Linus is to provide love, a sense of security, warmth and comfort to children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need, through gifts of new, handmade blankets and afghans, lovingly made by volunteer “blanketeers.”

Volunteers are needed to work on projects that could use an extra set of hands to complete—such as cutting, matching fabric, sewing, pressing, tying knots, embroidery or quilting. Blanketeers meet at the at the Community Center in Severna Park on the third Saturday of every month from 10 a.m. to noon, and can be as young as 8, but a parent must accompany if younger than 14.
