Dress for Success Opens Satellite Location in Severna Park

The Baltimore chapter of Dress for Success opened a location at the Severna Park Community Center on Wednesday.

The organization promotes economic independence for disadvantaged women and is looking to open up its services to the Anne Arundel County area.

“Today we’re just trying to get established in the community,” said Outreach Coordinator Connie Carter.

On Wednesday, Carter said they were expecting about four women to come in for clothes. Dress for Success lets the women pick out and try on clothes, shoes and accessories for upcoming job interviews.

Pasadena resident, and volunteer Mary Kuhn said she got involved with Dress for Success because she believes that giving women the tools they need for an interview—like dress clothes—can help them be successful.

“I work as a relator and I really wanted to help women in need,” Kuhn said. “Having the tools and clothes you need can really help women succeed in the workplace.”

Women are referred to Dress for Success by local job readiness programs. Besides having women in need come in on Wednesday, Carter said they are also expecting several people to come by with donations.

Dress for Success will be at the Severna Park Community Center every Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and is always accepting donations.
