This epic story recounts the struggle against adversity in 19th century France. Imprisoned for stealing a loaf of bread, petty thief Jean Valjean is released from his 19-year term and not only becomes and honest man, but the mayor of a prosperous town and a loving adoptive father - violating his parole in the process. The relentless Inspector Javert, who makes a decent life for Valjean impossible, consequently pursues him. Only years later, after Valjean proves his mettle during a bloody student uprising and saves the life of a young man hopelessly in love with Valjean’s adopted daughter, does the ex-convict finally feel fully redeemed.
Winner of the 1987 Tony Award, Les Miserable is a sung-through musical based on the novel of the same name by French poet and playwright Victor Hugo. The music was written by Claude-Michel Schonberg, and the lyrics were written by Alain Boubill and Jean-Marc Natel.  This production features more than 50 skilled actors and live music performed by SPHS students and professional musicians.  The run time of this performance is 2 1/2 hours and is rated PG13 for language and content.
Following the fall musical, the SP Stage Company will perform “One Act Plays” in January 2013, followed by the ever popular, Rock and Roll Revival XXIV in March, and “The Bully Plays” in April.
