Good Souls Helping Seniors

Denise commented on your article "Life In A Jar" in Elita's Senior World: Fairfield, Connecticut Patch

Elita, I have worked at Northbridge Health Care Center, Bridgeport, CT, for just about 3 years, as Community Liaison. I started in early December 2010 and learned so much in my first year working with seniors. Before this, I worked in the corporate world as a director of sales and marketing in the hotel industry. Working with seniors has brought joy to my life - as I have tried to bring joy to those I have met and worked with. In my job, I am blessed to participate in programs and events at senior centers and have joined four AARP groups (Yep, I'm over 50...) and, have the opportunity to work with colleagues who also enjoy helping seniors. I hope that your article and this wonderful high school group continues to motivate the public to spend some time with the wonderful people who have helped to make our country great. And, after all, God willing, we will all be there one day! Thank you for your inspiring contribution! Denise Loeb Community Liaison Northbridge Health Care Center Bridgeport, CT

This comment is a blessed one for us who are able, to look out for our seniors if we know of them in our neighborhood. I have two fine neighbors Karyn and Brian Gold who if we need them will assist us. Sometimes, they have cleared the pathway in a snow storm until the regular snow cleaners arrived. Mr.Gold helped us one Sunday night when we came home from being out of town to visit our son and his family and we heard a loud buzzing in the office room. We unplugged everything we could and still it was ringing. We would never have been able to sleep and reluctantly we called him at almost 9 P.M. and he came over and he found the source, the surge box and we were so grateful. The next evening after working almost a twelve hour shift, he hooked up all the computer wires to the new surge protector we bought that  day. He did it with grace and kindness and we were so grateful. Mrs. Gold always tells us to call if we need something and she means it, they are not just empty words.

We do not often call and we are still able to do for ourselves.

Bless these folks like Mrs. Loeb and the Golds for being there when needed for seniors. Bless them for they are the peacemakers who are the Children of God.
