Top 5: Suspicious Man, Election Day, Sandy Relief

1. ‘Suspicious’ Severna Park Man Visits Sikh Shooting Site
A Severna Park man was detained at Oak Creek Sikh Temple, the site of an August mass shooting in Wisconsin, for suspicious behavior last week. He reportedly had boxes of ammunition in his car but was not arrested by police.

2. NJ Shelter Cheers for Severna Park Donations
The Renick family home in Severna Forest on Thursday night was a sight to be seen. Spotlights illuminated a yard covered with boxes and bags, while Boy Scouts and community members sorted clothes and loaded boxes into the Clement Hardware truck. The entire effort was spurred by a common desire to help those in New Jersey impacted by Hurricane Sandy.

A teacher at Belvedere Elementary in Arnold started collecting supplies for Sandy victims and got an overwhelming response. So much so that she couldn't fit it all in her car. Clement Hardware Inc. stepped up and donated a truck. And when they called to ask for help, Gordon Clement was already in New Jersey.

Bonnie Counselman will be 65 in February and voted for the first time at the Severna Park Library Tuesday afternoon.“I just think it is important now,” Counselman said. “There are a lot more issues that pertain to me like health care and social security. And really just the whole job situation has really affected me.”

5. SPHS Drama Students Preparing for ‘Les Mis’
Drama students at Severna Park High School opened Les Misérables Friday night. See why the director said show-goers will be amazed by the casts' talent.
