Top 5: Kidney Donation, Home Burglary, Taphouse

This week Patch reported on a man who donated a kidney to his brother and restaurant that has undergone renovations.

1. SPMS Custodian: I’m My Brother’s Keeper
When Severna Park Middle School custodian Dovell Johnson’s brother learned he needed a kidney transplant, Johnson immediately stepped up to help—and the school quickly rallied around him.

Jeanette Middleton Sudano and Kristen Renick thanked the community for their help and support in collecting supplies for victims of Hurricane Sandy in New Jersey.

Former frequenters of the Rodz n Rydz would be very surprised if they walked into the new Taphouse. The restaurant now offers a family friendly atmosphere—complete with a fenced-in backyard seating for kids to run around—a revamped menu and tables.

4. SPHS Students Shine in ‘Les Mis’Severna Park High students shined in the opening weekend of Les Mis. The entire cast was exceptional. However, Jean Valjean, who was played by Austin Heemstra, left you wondering if you just watched a Broadway production.

5. Police Charge Man in SP Home Burglary
Police have charged a Severn Park man who they said ransacked and stole several items from a home on Cypress Road. Family members say the owner of the home is deceased.
