Top 5: Hogwarts Express Takes Off, Charges Dropped for Lacrosse Players

Several Folger McKinsey teachers were recognized at the Excellence in Education Awards Monday night.

1. Local Kids Create Hogwarts Express
All aboard—The Hogwarts Express train has come to Severna Park. A group of local kids have recreated the train from the Harry Potter movies and raced it in the American Visionary Art Museum's kinetic sculpture race in Baltimore on Saturday.

2. Underage Drinking Charges Dropped for Dismissed Lacrosse Players
The three Severna Park High varsity lacrosse players who were issued underage drinking citations at a local house party had their charges dropped by the Maryland Department of Juvenile Services, according to their parents.

3. Folger McKinsey Well Represented at Excellence in Education Awards
Folger McKinsey Elementary School was represented loudly, proudly and frequently at the 27th Annual Excellence in Education Awards banquet held at the BWI Marriott Hotel. Of the 52 Teacher of the Year nominees recognized on Monday, four came from Folger.

4. Former SPHS Football Player Invited to Ravens Camp
Former Severna Park High School football player Steve Demilio received an invitation to the Baltimore Ravens' mini camp. Demilio played football at Severna Park and was a two-time All-Big South Conference selection at Gardner-Webb University.

5. Quarter Auction Raises $5K for Guatemala Clinic
The Good Neighbors Group Quarter Auction on April 19 raised more than $5,000 for a Guatemala medical clinic that will serve about 10,000 people.
