SPHS vs Broadneck Soccer to Play for Susan G. Komen and Packard Foundation

Both schools will be dressed in pink in recognition of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The Oct 13 Severna Park vs. Broadneck soccer games will be dedicated to the Susan G. Komen and Packard Foundation - ALS. 

"Since October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month coupled with the fact that both teams have known friends/family impacted with Breast Cancer (and all cancers) and Lou Gehrig's Disease; Coach John Camm has decided to dedicate this game to these two very worthy causes, " wrote Severna Park High School volleyball coach, Lauren Boyd in an email to Patch.

Both Girls Varsity /JV teams will have pink attire on via Varsity with jerseys/shoestrings and JV with pink socks/shoestrings.

Broadneck is sending letters to friends/families/businesses requesting donations; selling cupcakes for $1 at the game, and collecting donations at the game, said Boyd. 

The Broadneck boys Varsity team will assist with the cupcake sales and collecting donations during the girls Varsity game.

Broadneck Girls made ALS, cancer, and dedication posters to cancer survivors and victims.  These posters will be displayed around the field on Oct 13.

Boyd said that Col. Chuck Thomann will start the girls varsity game by singing the National Anthem. Thomann recently lost his wife Joyce, a breast cancer survivor, to pancreatic cancer.

The girls JV game is at Severna Park starting at 3:30 p.m.; the girls varsity game is at Broadneck starting at 5 p.m.; and the boys varsity game is at Broadneck starting at 7 p.m.
