SPCA Brings 5K to Severna Park

The Tails and Trails 5K will be held on the Baltimore & Annapolis Trail on June 22.

Area pups can enjoy a morning of tail-wagging and exercise on June 22 when the SPCA of Anne Arundel County hosts the Tails and Trails 5K on the Baltimore & Annapolis Trail.

The SPCA held its Walk for the Animals at Quiet Waters Park in Annapolis on April 7, and while it was a great success, the Severna Park event had been planned beforehand.

“We were blown away by how successful it was,” said Volunteer and Foster Coordinator Kim Teter. “We had 200 people and about 50 dogs come out. They had a good time. They liked the course, so we will be keeping it with the walk for next year and we are hoping Severna Park will go just as well.”

The SPCA is teaming up with Spark Running for the event. Packets can be picked up at the store in Park Plaza from 3-7 p.m. on June 21 or from 7-7:45 a.m. on the morning of the race.

Proceeds from the 5K will benefit the SPCA, Teter said. The race will begin on the trail, directly behind the Severna Park Veterinary Hospital.
