A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect until 8 p.m. for a large portion of Maryland, including Anne Arundel County and the surrounding area, according to the National Weather Service (NWS). Strong winds and possibly large hail in the forecast.
The service said showers and thunderstorms will develop later Tuesday afternoon due to a slow-moving cold front.
Some storms will be severe and capable of producing damaging winds gusts and possibly large hail, according to the NWS.
A small craft advisory is in effect through 11 a.m. Wednesday. A heat advisory is possible for Thursday with a possible 105 degree heat index and severe thunderstorms are also possible on Thursday, according to the NWS.
