The project funded for  Opportunity Builders, Inc. (OBI) in Millersville, is to support reading and math skills classes for adults with developmental disabilities who work at OBI’s warehouse. These skills are necessary so that workers can accurately fulfill contracts such as packaging products and processing bulk mailings.

“Many of the individuals we serve have completed school but they don’t often have the opportunity to practice their basic reading and math skills. This grant enables us to provide reading and math classes throughout the year," said Leslie Prewitt, director of external relations for OBI.

"This will allow our participants to work on more complex packaging, assembly and distribution contracts in our warehouse. This Ladders to Success grant means so much to the advancement of so many in our program.”

Established in 1998, the mission of the Community Foundation of Anne Arundel County is to grow philanthropy and build community. An independent, tax-exempt charity created by and for the people of Anne Arundel County, CFAAC connects donors with the causes they care about.
