Hello Severna Park, I’m Your New Patch Editor

Get to know your new Severna Park Patch Editor Kaitlyn Carr.

Hello Severna Park! My name is Kaitlyn Carr and I am extremely excited to announce that I will be your new Severna Park Patch editor.

One of the best things about being a journalist is the never-ending opportunity to share amazing stories with readers, and that is what I hope to do as your new Severna Park editor.

If my name looks familiar to you, that’s probably because I have spent the past seven and a half months writing for Pasadena Patch. So while I realize Pasadena and Severna Park have their differences, I am familiar with the area and look forward to meeting new people in the Severna Park community.

I graduated from the University of Maryland, College Park in May 2011 with a bachelor’s degree in journalism. I have always had dreams of being a big-time sports reporter and, while in school, those dreams began to come true.

During my four years at Maryland I interned with The Baltimore Sun sports section, covered the Washington Capitals for Inside Hockey, and covered high school sports in Prince George’s County.

While with Pasadena Patch I covered lots of and even went to the with Chesapeake High School. I know Severna Park has an active sports community and I hope to build solid high school sports coverage on the site.

I also plan to dive into coverage of local businesses, schools and community events. I think I will bring a new energy to Severna Park when it comes to social media and I encourage all of you to like Severna Park Patch on Facebook and follow me on Twitter—if you haven’t already.

Since I am new to Severna Park Patch I will be learning about the community as I go and will be relying on you guys to help me learn. If you have a story idea or something you want me to cover please email me and let me know.

What is most important to me is that I report the news that matters to you the most. So please let me know what you want to see more coverage of and what issues you think I should dive into.

In short, hello Severna Park, I am very excited to be a part of this great community and look forward to sharing all the stories you have to tell.
