Free Flu Shots Available at SPCC Health Fair

Thanks to Anne Arundel Medical Center, attendees can get free flu shots along with additional health information on Friday.

Health officials at the Center for Disease Control said it could be shaping up to be a bad flu season, according to an article on Yahoo News.

On Tuesday, Yahoo reported that health officials also believe flu season will come early this year, which makes the Severna Park Community Center’s annual Health Fair on Friday seem like perfect timing. The fair will feature free flu shots.

“This is the first year we have partnered with Anne Arundel Medical Center and we are really grateful for their support,” said SPCC Executive Director Jennie Boden. “They purchased all the shots, which allows them to be free to the community.”

The annual Health Fair will take place on Friday at the community center from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Along with flu shots the event will also feature different health-oriented vendors. The vendors will provide information on breast health, women and children’s health and more.

“We are thrilled to host this clinic and do our part to ensure the community stays healthy,” Boden said.

Boden did say they only have 200 doses of the flu shot, so it will be limited to a first come, first served basis. Boden encouraged fair-goers to arrive early.

The shots are also only available for adults 18 years or older.

Patch will also be on hand at the fair handing out prizes and collecting newsletter subscriptions, so be sure to stop by and say hello to Severna Park Patch Editor Kaitlyn Carr.
