DUI Checkpoints Start This Weekend

Stepped-up DUI enforcement with police stationed along Fort Smallwood Road in Pasadena starting Friday.

The Anne Arundel County Police Department will be conducting increased DUI enforcement leading up to St. Patrick’s Day with officers initiating stepped up enforcement beginning this weekend and continuing through the following week. Enforcement starts on Fri. along Fort Smallwood Road in Pasadena where in 2010, the Pasadena area accounted for 13.4 percent of all DUI arrests and 14.5 percent of DUI related crashes.

The Department’s 88th checkpoint will be conducted on March 11 along Fort Smallwood Road in Pasadena and will support the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and Maryland Highway Safety Office (MHSO) “Checkpoint Strikeforce” impaired driving initiative.

Citizens observing vehicles operated by impaired drivers are encouraged to contact the police department at the non-emergency number of 410-222-8610. Please provide a description of the vehicle, a tag number and the direction of travel.
