American Legion Post 175 in Severna Park Holds Veterans Day Service

Remembrances, prayers, poetry and song surrounded the veterans attending the annual tribute.

A service at the American Legion Post 175 in Manhattan Beach was filled with quiet moments, tears, poetry and song as 41 members of the Severna Park club gathered on Veterans Day to remember their comrades who served in foreign wars and also recognize those on active duty.

Post Chaplain Reed Brown led the service with Becky Pullen, first vice president of Post 175.

Post Auxiliary President Pat Rabeau said it is extremely important to recognize our veterans—from every generation.

"We have to respect the veterans for what they've done for our country," she said.

"It's a very nice, friendly post," said John Jennings of Severna Park, who served during the Vietnam war era.

His friend Charlie Wells, agreed that coming to the post was gratifying on this important day.

"I owe it to myself and other veterans," he said. "It's good to see a few of my comrades here."

Severna Park resident and Sgt. of Arms for the auxiliary, Celine Wachter, whose grandfather served in World War II, read a poem, followed by patriotic songs and then lunch at the Legion for club members.
