Corporations - and taxes.

Corporations are less and less "patriotic". It used to be that US corporations contributed almost 40% of all the taxes that the Federal Government collected. Now it is closer to 10%. Which means that we the people have to contribute more. In addition Corporations are sending more and more jobs abroad. This seems to me to be very short sighted of them. They may get a short term benefit. But consider - now the Government not only cannot collect taxes from the people whose jobs have been sent abroad they will have the added expense of paying out unemployment payments and possibly welfare payments and food stamps etc. The income that these people would have earned would have been spent here in the US, maybe on goods that corporation made! But now they can't buy those goods because they are unemployed because the Big Corp sent their job abroad. Talk about what goes around comes around. A much better policy, it seems to me, would be to hire in the US, then the money gets spent in the US and taxed in the US, thus stimulating the economy. The money paid is spent over and over as it goes to US companies and is taxed over and over as it goes from employed worker to employed worker. By sending the job abroad they stop all of that, and hurt their own bottom line. As well as hurt the US. And, they are paying less and less taxes too. US Corporations now effectively pay the lowest tax of any civilized country in the entire world. Ten percent or less on average with many big corps paying ZERO tax!! Companies like Apple, Starbucks, GE etc etc, in fact hundreds of huge corporations pay NO tax at all!! Some, like GE - with a PROFIT of over $40 BILLION last year, not only paid NO tax, they got a $1 BILLION "Refund".
Just saying.
