3 Tips to Protecting Your Data During a Storm

Spring storms can shut down your business if you are not prepared.

Here are 3 helpful tips that everyone should know about to keep your data safe and to ensure your business is “running as usual” regardless of the weather.

1. Set up surge protectors for your PC or Laptop, printers, but also protect your network port and other hardware.   Remind users to Save Often during inclement weather.

2. Install an appropriate Uninterruptable Power Supply or UPS, or battery backup  for temporary power during an outage. This will provide your team with extra time to save and back up the data they are working on if the power goes out in your location.   We recommend APC’s solutions along with their management software that can alert you to potential issues; such as temperature issues in your server room, before they become a problem.

3. Ensure you have a good back up solution.   Tape backups are okay, but new cloud backup solutions are the way to go to prevent error, ensure security of your data, and if you need it, improved data recovery options. Learn more about cloud back up solutions we recommend like Intronis, Datto and eFolder.
