The Cottage Gets New Look, Merchandise

The local shop will host a Vera Bradley Baby Shower on Saturday to unveil their new products.

Those who frequent The Cottage in Park Plaza often have probably noticed that the local shop has a new look, as well as some new products.

On March 3, the Severna Park gift boutique underwent its first complete remodel since the store opened 27 years ago. The new look includes new carpet, a reorganized window stage, new flooring and updated displays.

“We have been here for 27 years and had 27 year old country blue carpet,” said store manager Monica Leisure. “Our employees and our customers kept begging to have it go and we were finally able to make it all work.”

The remodel also incorporates more displays, but still somehow manages to make the store look bigger and less cluttered.

Leisure said every customer that comes in notices the upgrades and loves them.

“All of our customers are loving it,” Leisure said. “They are like ‘Wow, how did you open up the space?’ And really we brought in more displays and have more stuff out on the floor then we did to begin with but it looks much more open.”

Featured on the displays are a variety of new products that The Cottage now offers. The store has brought in Tommy Bahama dresses, Corkys leather shoes and the new Vera Bradley Baby line.

In honor of the new Vera Bradley products, The Cottage is hosting a Baby Shower from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, which will include snacks, lemonade, giveaways and of course Vera Bradley Baby essentials.

Leisure said that The Cottage is extremely grateful to Landmark Builders for making the upgrades possible. The Severna Park business worked through the night to finish the remodel, ahead of schedule and without the store having to close.

“I just love the whole thing,” Leisure said. “I love the fresh new look. It is amazing what a difference a little bit of change can make.”
