M&T Bank Remains Closed After Fire

Employee says M&T Bank will remain in its temporary location for another year.

More than five months after a fire caused an estimated $1 million in damages at the M&T Bank building in Severna Park, employees said the local establishment will remain closed with no plans to open in the near future.

The fire broke out on Aug. 5 and the location has been closed ever since. However, M&T did open a temporary location inside Park Plaza while the repairs to the former building were being made.

An employee with M&T in Severna Park said the bank had no plans to move out of its temporary location in the next year.

Anne Arundel County Fire Department Division Chief Keith Swindle said the cause of the fire remains undetermined and that the investigation has been turned over to the bank’s insurance company.

A call to the bank manager seeking a comment on the status of the former building was not returned. Patch will update this story when more information is available.
