Dance Supplies Relocates to Bigger Store

Severna Park is now home to the biggest dance merchandise store in the Maryland, DC and Virginia area.

Dance Supplies moved from its former location on Baltimore Annapolis Boulevard, to a bigger store in Park Plaza. The new location is four times as large as the old space, making it the biggest dance store in the area, according to owner Julia Barrett.

“We just had outgrown our space,” Barrett said. “We had so much inventory we just couldn’t see what we had anymore.”

The new store is extremely spacious, and the displays are spread out all over the store. The new layout also allows for a stage area dedicated to fitting point shoes—the shoes ballerinas use to dance on top on their toes.

Dance Supplies staff members are trained in point shoe fitting and the larger space allows for dance classes to come for a fitting as a group. 

“The first pair of pointer shoes is really special, so it’s nice they have an area where they can try them on,” said employee Paige Wright.

Since the Park Plaza location is so much bigger, the store now has a “play section” for kids and a “dad/brother section” to entertain store-goers who may get a little bored looking at ballet accessories. 

One of the biggest differences between the two locations is how spread out everything is in the new space. Some of the store’s smaller knick-knack items were lost before, but now they are neatly displayed.

“It’s just nice to have some space and be able to have some room for the customers to see our products, and see what we have,” Barrett said. “Everything has been so cramped and hanging over us in the past. It’s a refreshing change to have some room.”

Dance Supplies is located in the Park Plaza shopping center at 556D Gov. Ritchie Highway in Severna Park.
