Christmas Tree Sales in Severna Park

You don't have to go far to find the perfect Christmas tree, unless you are chopping one down on a farm. There are stands and nurseries sprinkled throughout Severna Park offering a full selection of trees and other items for holiday decorating. Take a look: 

Big Tree, located on a small strip of land next to Ritchie Highway northbound, Big Tree is owned by William Streams of Severna Park who has operated in this area for decades. Big Tree has two varieties of trees, among others, that are unique to the area. A Concolor fir, also known as a white fir, is soft needled and light blue in color. This tree resembles a white pine, however, the needles are a bit stronger, making it a good pick for those who hang heavier ornaments, Streams said. Another is the canaan fir, a cross between a Fraser and balsam fir and a red pine which "is a little stiffer and holds ornaments better," he said.

The other varieties include the popular fraser fir, Douglas fir, grand fir, Norway spruce, blue spruce and Scotch and white pine. The selection includes taller and larger trees, like an 18-foot fraser fir for $300. Prices start at $19.99 and up with most in the fir varieties in the $35 to $80 price range.

Also for sale is fresh pine roping at $24.99 for 75 feet, tree stands and wreaths.

Streams is expecting a live tree delivery and more decorations sometime this week. Open Daily.

reopened on Black Friday for the Christmas season with fresh-cut douglas and Fraser firs, white and Scotch pine, blue spruce and live Alberta spruce (2 to 3 feet), white pine, Scotch pine, pine roping, and different sizes of Fraser, Douglas and boxwood wreaths.

Under the signature red and white striped tents, you'll find McCutcheon's jellies and honeysticks, along with fresh handmade wreaths, white pine roping, swags and fresh apple cider.

All trees are tagged with prices, starting in the teens and up. Diehl's also sells tree preservative, but "water is the key," said Elliot Anderkin of Diehl's.

on the corner of Cypress Creek Road and Ritchie Highway is stocked with fresh-cut trees from the Pacific Northwest. Already busy with customers buying trees, the selection includes Fraser fir, noble fir, and Douglas fir "fresh off the truck," said Mary Blondell, who owns the center with her husband, Gary.

Live balled trees are expected in this week. For decorating, there are fresh greens, roping, wreaths and Gary's also sells very seasoned firewood. If you are looking for poinsettias, there is a beautiful display inside the sales center.

The price range for trees starts at $29.99 and up.

Homestead Gardens in Severna Park is in full swing with a selection of fraser fir from $29.99 for 3 to 4 foot trees to $129 for 8 to 9 foot trees. Douglas fir starts at $59.99 for 6 to 9 foot trees, up to $129.99 for 9 to 10 foot trees. A 6 to 7 foot noble fir is priced at $99.99 and the larger 7 to 8 foot noble firs are $119.99. There is a selection of poinsettias with deals for customers using their club card.

nursery on Jumpers Hole Road is stocked with trees, wreaths, roping, fresh greens, and an array of poinsettias. Their varieties include Fraser firs starting at $19.99, douglas fir and scotch and white pine, priced at $29.99 for a 6-to 8-foot tree.

The nursery also has leftover nursery stock for sale.

The tree stand with the signature oversized snowman on the side of the is set up with rows of trees. The owners are in from North Carolina and rent the space from the fire station.

When Patch stopped by for details, the owner wasn't in the area to share the information on the stocked yard of trees.
