A Baker's Delight: Store Announces Chocolate Olympics Winners

More than 170 people voted for their favorite chocolate recipe at Victoria's Fancy Foods in Severna Park on Saturday.

There's nothing better on Valentine's Day than to recognize local bakers who created chocolate masterpieces for the annual at on Saturday.

The free tastings attracted more than 170 people to sample the 10 recipes at the shop located in the Mariner Plaza.

Truffles, brownies, cookies and cakes representing 10 countries in the Olympic-themed event lined the store. , representing Canada, took the gold for the third year in a row.

The winners:

  • GOLD: Caroline Nold, representing Canada with a three chocolate truffle tart.
  • SILVER: Amy Leahy, representing Argentina with a chocolate cloud cake.
  • BRONZE: Ilene Nathan, representing Ireland with truffle cookie cups.

The winners were presented with flowers and tokens of appreciation by the owner, Victoria Stagmer. The other entrants were awarded goody bags.

"Thanks to all 10 contestants who made some very scrumptious desserts!" Stagmer said in an email to Patch. "It was a close race because everything was fabulous! Thanks to all who came to help out and judge!"
