Chesapeake Steel Drum Band Dazzles Crowd at Hatton-Regester Green

Sunday's concert, the last in the Summer Concert Series, brought tropical tunes to Severna Park.

The Summer Concert Series, sponsored by the Friends of the Anne Arundel County Trails, and the Arts Council of Anne Arundel County, held its final concert on Sunday evening at the Hatton-Regester Green, along the Baltimore Annapolis Trail in Severna Park.

The Chesapeake Steel Drum Band performed island tunes to a relaxed crowd of more than 225 people.

The concert series started last month and brought a variety of talented musicians and bands to the park on every Sunday. The organizers, mother/daughter team Beth and Betsy Slikker have been putting together the performances for over a decade.

Hatton-Regester Green, once a vacant piece of land adjacent to the Baltimore & Annapolis Trail was one of Friends of the Trail's first enhancement projects. Richard McIntyre, a former Friends of the Trail board member, created the landscape design and work, to include a gazebo, landscape design and waterfall feature.

The proceeds from the concerts benefit the Friends of the Trail.
