Woods Holiday Bazaar a Sold Out Success

There was something for everyone again this year, but many yearly favorites sold out early.

After lunch on Saturday, there were no more pecans, nor was there a peanut butter ball to be found. There were more homemade butter creams, but the edible church mice—a newcomer to the candy table—had disappeared.

This was the scene at the annual Holiday Bazaar when visitors arrived early to gobble up their personal favorites.

A homemade confection coined "church mice" made from Hershey's Chocolate Hugs and pretzels made their debut this year and candy table staffers agreed they were marching off the table in record speed—sold out in a matter of minutes.

All that was left to remember them by was a picture on an iPhone.

Our Santa hats off to Betty Watts and Terri Allen, the "creative genius" behind the recipes, supplies and baking for the annual candy sale and Alecia Jacks for the hand drawn signs at each plate.

The nuts sales soared Kay Mitchell said, with the bags of pecans, apricots and pistachios sold out early in the day.

Books and gently used items in the White Elephant room found excited shoppers buying up seasonal items, such as Christmas tins for a $1 each. Talking books were popular and sold out early, too.
